Ulven’s career took off when she was just 16 with the release of her song “I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend” on SoundCloud. The song quickly took off and is what had led her to her fame today.
Ulven’s musical interest started when she was just 11 years old after receiving a guitar from her grandfather. Today she credits him for her interest in music. Since then, she has taught herself how to play both the guitar and piano. She also learnt how to produce music and soon after began writing it.
The stage name Girl In Red was coined after Ulven attempted to identify herself in a crowd to her friend. Currently, she is best known and looked up to for her songs discussing queer romance and mental health.
Since 2015, Girl In Red has released three albums, all which have contributed to her nomination and win for Norwegian Newcomer of the Year at the 2018 GADDA Awards. Even after the self-release of her albums, it wasn’t until 2019 when she was signed onto a recording contract with AWAL. Now she is one of Norwegians “phenomenon” and has also been nominated for Best New Artist at the 2020 Norwegian Grammy Awards.
