Anna Katriina (or better known as Kati) Outinen is a Finnish actress famous for playing leading female roles in Aki Kaurismäki’s films. She got her breakthrough role in 1980 in the generational classic youth film Täältä tullaan, elämä (Life, here I come), playing the tough girl.
Her most popular works include Shadows in Paradise, The Man Without a Past and The Other Side of Hope. At the 2002 Cannes Film Festival, Outinen won the award for Best Actress for the Kaurismäki film The Man Without a Past.
In Finland she is a household name because of the widely varied list of roles in theater and television drama throughout the years. Working with Aki Kaurismäki has brought Outinen international attention, particularly in Germany and France.
Apart from acting, Outinen worked as a Professor at the Theatre Academy Helsinki from 2002–2013.
