The Swedish DJ’s Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso form the group Swedish House Mafia. Before coming together as a group, they were all established DJ’s and were often playing the same venues. Angello and Ingrosso knew each other since childhood and all of them being Swedes playing in foreign countries they were naturally drawn to hangout and often performed together. Which led to friends around them calling them the Swedish House Mafia. House because of the type of music they play.
In the year 2008 they formally formed the band and were four members to begin with. The fourth member, called Prydz, quit after only a few months in the group.
Their first two albums, Until One (2010) and Until now (2012), were compilation albums done in cooperation with multiple different artists. During this time the group was playing a lot and having big success worldwide, but in 2012 they released a statement saying that they would be going on hiatus. Shortly after that, they actually held their first concert on Swedish soil.
After a long break, the band came back together in 2018 and were greeted well by their fanbase. Since then, they have continued playing big venues and festivals and working with big time musicians, like they have always done. Earlier this year they released their debut studio album Paradise Again which features The Weeknd, Sting and more.
Throughout the years many electronic musicians have come out saying that they are highly inspired by this Swedish supergroup. For example, Avicii, Alesso and Martin Garrix.
