N°13 Nordic NoirHelga Mjöll Oddsdóttir
Nordic Noir is a genre of crime fiction, usually written from a police point of view and set in Nordic countries. Starting as a literary style, Nordic Noir is now a cinematic genre that is gaining worldwide popularity. Especially have the TV series in this style taken the world by storm.
Normally the protagonist is a quirky police detective that needs to solve a serious crime, often at the expense of his/her private life, and thereby casting a light on the flaws of society, which are beyond the crime itself.
Its characteristics of Nordic Noir are dark settings, bleak landscapes, bad weather with a dialogue very direct but also sarcastic at times.
This style has given birth to many books, movies and hit series like the Killing, Valhalla murders, the Bridge and Trapped, to name a few. Many of which are available now on the Spanish Netflix.
