Throughout his life Skarsgård has travelled and lived in a variety of places, as a result he is fluent in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, German, and English.
Additionally, it was during these times that Skarsgård was able to develop a close relationship with Danish film director Lars von Trier and Norweigen director Hans Petter Moland. This led Skarsgård to be featured in a variety of their films which gained him popularity in the industry.
It wasn’t until 1985 when Skarsgård performed in his first American film Noon Wine. Since then his acting career took off and he has featured in over 70 films and TV shows. From those films he has been nominated for many prestigious awards including: Critics’ Choice Television Awards, People’s Choice Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and more.
